Vision

Thank you for visiting the Gadgetbox website. Feel free to browse the site- you'll find complete equipment lists, photos of the studio, past artists that have worked with me at the studio, and many tidbits of information pertaining to the studio itself. Please see Damon Orion's recent interview with me in the Santa Cruz "Good Times" for a personal and candid perspective on my thoughts on recording. As an engineer, it is my goal to understand the direction the artist wants to go creatively, and intuitively and efficiently steer the production of the music toward this vision. More than anything, I strive to offer a place where ego and inhibitions are checked at the door, and a safe haven for expression and emotion to run freely. When the right energy is captured during the recording process, the rest truly falls together. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please feel free to contact me for a studio tour and/or a sampler CD. And thanks for visiting the Gadgetbox site. Enjoy!

Philosophy

Many people ask why I am so happy to use the iZ RADAR 24 high-definition digital audio recording system over a Mac or PC-based DAW platform... In a word, it's SOUND. As a tool, it WORKS. It is FAST and EFFICIENT and makes the recording process flow smoothly and naturally. And as a platform, there simply is NO better solution to recording. Hands down. I have been using digital and analog systems for years, and the RADAR is truly the best of both. The RADAR flawlessly executes recording as reliably as a two inch reel-to-reel--- but no need to clean/calibrate the heads! If you've ever used audio software on a PC that has 'locked up" or "crashed", you know the time consumed and the energy lost from using a computer-based recording setup that's not completely dedicated to audio recording. RADAR was built from the ground up to do one thing- RECORD AUDIO. And the sound... RADAR is the preferred recording system for countless professionals, often winning blind listening tests with even ANALOG TAPE. Yes, if you are a fan of analog tape, you should definitely CLICK HERE to see the results of a recent sound comparison test... RADAR records to native WAV files (or BWAV), so importing or exporting into ProTools, Logic, Nuendo, or any other software-based DAW (either Mac or PC) is an absolute breeze. It's easy to bring in your tracks for mixing at Gadgetbox, or bounce down drum takes to your DAW and work on guitars at home. With RADAR, everything is possible. As always, please feel free to e-mail me if you have any particular questions or compatibility issues with your setup. I am here to help!
